Hair relaxing & highlights?

well.. i am 13 years old with curly black normal hair. i want straight hair, my skin tone is brown. i can not flat iron my hair.. and everyday at school..then i end up with split ends i have the same hairstyle :(

my hair is not that long.. only up to my soulders.

im thinking abt getting highlights.. maybe brown/red or caramel color.. which one would look better? and after a year.. does your hair comes off like white?

and hair relaxing..how long does it stay for? does it damage the hair?

Sorry to let you know and you can google it but relaxing your hair is permanent. You don't redo it, you just do the new growth. I don't relax my hair but I did for about 2 years of my life. The thing about relaxers is that it can break your hair and if you don't take care of your hair it will look try and unkept. Most black women are a great example of what relaxers can do, just look at the ones with short hair that looks scraggly at the end. Their hair breaks off at the ends and it is not cute.

Most cosmetologist will not suggest it at your age if you have beautiful curly hair, I am just saying that because that is my experience. As for highlights if you want one based on your description, caramel or cinammon red would look nice however I believe in waiting to do that. Only because hair is fragile and the most ugliest thing is when women have beautiful hair but because they do so much to it, it looks dry and scraggly. Read up on relaxers.

There is a forum that talks about hair. http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/

says more about relaxers and why it is permanent.

I forgot to mention some women use texturizer, it is like a light relaxer. It will relax the hair enough to make it easier to straighten if you want to straighten it but you can still wear it curly if needed.

Having your hair relaxed is good if you have wavy or curly hair . There are many types of relaxers. When you go to the salon ask the stylist which would be the best for your type of hair. If you do decide to straighten your hair it only last for a couple months and then you have to have it redone to continue the straight style. If you highlight your hair you should go about every 6 weeks for a touch up on your roots. It will not turn white but your roots will look darker

Hair relaxings is very damaging to your hair it drys it out and causes more split ends. As for the highlight thing, you should get carmal colored lowlights. And if you want you're hair straight get a flat iron that straightens with steam, it doesnt dry hair out or cause split ends..
